Dear Chamber Members and Friends:
One of the issues on everyone’s mind these days in the New York area is congestion pricing. While the proposal is being reviewed by the State Legislature, it seems everyone has an opinion on it one way or another. While everyone agrees that congestion in Manhattan’s midtown and downtown core is intolerable, costing everyone time and money, there is little agreement on how to fix the problem. Elected officials from Brooklyn & Queens have expressed strong reservations to the plan, and unlike the original Move NY proposal, the current proposal does not reduce tolls on crossings to the congestion zone. (Manhattan below 60th Street) Manhattan residents have a host of questions about the proposal as well, such as how will residents be treated, and what if (as is the case with the Upper West Side) you live adjacent to the “border” of 60th Street.
We hope you can join us at our next Chamber Breakfast, where Sam Schwartz, President & CEO of Sam Schwartz Transportation Consultants, the architect of the Move NY proposal and a member of the FixNYC Plan (which is being considered by the legislature) will answer your questions and update us on the pending proposal in Albany. You won’t want to miss this one!
